Installation of Simfit Academic Version 8.1.3 (64-bit)

1) Default installation

This program will install the Academic Version which is self-contained
and requires no other libraries. Note that Simfit can be installed in any
folder as long as the name ends with ...\Simfit (e.g. C:\Simfit7\Simfit).
This program will create an installation tree below this as top level if
one does not exist.

2) Upgrading an existing version of Simfit

Simfit should preferably be un-installed before installing this version, but
note that configuration, results, or data files are never over-written if you
un-install, then re-install into the same location.

3) New Installations

The default installation is as follows:

C:\Program Files\Simfit

Note that

SIMFIT MUST BE INSTALLED IN A FOLDER ENDING WITH ...\Simfit

otherwise the Simfit package will not function correctly.
After installation, you can make a desktop shortcut to the Simfit driver
program (e.g. C:\Program Files\Simfit\bin\x64_simfit.exe).

4) Auxiliary paths

The installation will create a Simfit folder in your My Documents folder,
and all results and other auxiliary files will be created within this
so that no files will ever be created within the %PROGRAMFILES% tree,
which is a protected environment in Windows operating systems from Vista
onwards.

5) Transforming the Academic version into a NAG library version

This must only be attempted if you have a current licensed version of the
NAG library DLLs for Mark24 onwards. If you use this procedure and the resulting
version of simfit reports absence of a licence just restore the academic version.
a) Make sure that 64-bit simfit is not executing
b) As adminstrator run x64_change_simfit_version.exe in the ...\simfit\bin folder
c) Choose to swap to the version for which you have a licence

6) Miscellaneous

To adjust menus or plot sizes, correct paths, etc. press [Configure],
edit as required, then press [Check] then [Apply] to apply changes.

Windows users should install the GSview and Ghostscript packages.
Linux users do not need these but must read the document linux.txt.
